The Challenge
Publisher Wilde Haren, founded by D'Avellonne van Dijk and Loulou Drinkwaard, has a beautiful mission: to make children's literature more inclusive and diverse. They believe every child should be able to see themselves in the stories they read, and their work reflects this core value. However, their WordPress website did not live up to the quality of their message. The site was plagued by slow load times, broken buttons, numerous design flaws and a non-functional online store, allowing them to reach fewer families.
The Solution
When we took on the project, they provided us with a desktop-only design file. We began by converting their static design into a fully responsive layout that works seamlessly on all devices. Given their growing need for a reliable, flexible e-commerce platform, we rebuilt their online store into Liquid for Shopify for smooth functionality and a better user experience. We also created an English version of the site to expand their audience worldwide.
The Results
As soon as the new website went live, the impact was immediate. Even before the webshop's official launch, orders began pouring in, a testament to the high demand for their inclusive, thoughtfully designed children's books. It was a powerful moment for the team and a testament to the effectiveness of their message.
Ongoing Collaboration
We're not done once a site goes live. At Salmon Partners, we believe in long-term partnerships. For Publishers Wild Hairs, we continue to provide aftercare, such as managing website updates, uploading new products and making sure everything is running smoothly. We also work closely with them on SEO, making sure their web shop ranks higher in Google so more families can discover and enjoy their books. The more visibility, the more we can help them spread their message of diversity and inclusion.
Final Thoughts
We are proud to have been able to play a role in bringing the mission of Publishers Wild Hairs to life online. From rebuilding their website to optimizing it for SEO, this project is more than just a technical success - it's a project that aligns with values we truly believe in. Together, we are working toward a future where every child can see themselves in the stories they read.
