Being listed in the places an answer is built from.

What citations are

A citation is a mention of your company on a source beyond your own site: a directory, a trade overview, a listicle, an industry register, a review platform. Often without a link, sometimes without you even knowing about it.

Those mentions are the building material search engines and AI systems assemble their picture of you from. When someone asks which providers there are in your market, that answer rarely comes from your own website. It comes from the overviews you are or are not on.

Shortlists rarely come from your own site

For the question "who does this", the answer is drawn from sources that already answer it: overview articles, directories, comparisons. If you are not on them, you are not in the answer either, however good your site is otherwise.

The reverse is just as true. One outdated listing keeps repeating an old price, a discontinued service or a wrong description, even when your own site has long been right.

The more often the same information comes back in different places, the more it weighs. Consistent listings reinforce each other.

What we do

Map where you stand

The measurement shows which sources in your market get cited and which of them you appear on. Often part of the picture turns out to come from places you did not have in view.

Flag what is wrong

Outdated details, an old price, a service that no longer exists. We see it in the measurement and report it, so it can be put right. Where possible we approach the party behind the source ourselves, with the correct information attached.

Add missing listings

If you are missing from an overview where you belong, that is often easier to fix than companies think. Many lists are maintained and reachable.

Align the details

The same name, description and details everywhere. Differences between sources sow doubt, and doubt costs you mentions.

Build links from sources that carry weight

A listing with a link does two things at once: it confirms the picture and it adds to your authority in search engines. We build those links in a targeted way, from sources that are actually read and cited in your market.

Flagging or driving

Citations is about what already exists about you. We map where you are listed, flag what is wrong and make sure it gets put right, so that the foundation under your visibility is sound.

PR is about what does not exist yet. Actively taking new products, updates and developments to the press, so that new mentions get added. Each reinforces the other: the more that gets published about you, the more there is to guard.

Part of a bigger whole

Citations is one of the methods we use. Which sources deserve attention, and in which order, follows from the measurement and the strategy.

That makes it targeted. Instead of collecting as many mentions as possible, you tackle the sources that demonstrably shape the picture.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as link building?

Link building is part of it, but it goes further. A link from an authoritative source helps your authority, and we work on that in a targeted way. At the same time, a correct mention without a link also counts towards the picture that forms of you. So we steer on both, and not on numbers.

How many mentions do we need?

The number is not the yardstick. What counts is whether you are on the sources that actually get cited in your market, and whether what is there is right.

How long before a correction takes effect?

The change itself can be quick. How fast it takes effect depends on where the picture comes from: from sources that are fetched live it is a matter of weeks; if it sits deeper in the model, it takes longer.

We do not even know everywhere we are listed.

That is normal, and it is exactly what the measurement delivers. Almost every company finds sources in it that it did not know about.
