AI SEO

Top of Google and named in AI answers, from one engagement and one team.

50+ leading companies work with us

AI SEO is the combination of classic search engine optimisation and generative engine optimization (GEO) in a single engagement: ranking at the top of Google and being named in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Your customers now search in both places, so we optimise them together, with one strategy and one report.

This is the engagement we grow our own clients with, from a roofing company holding number one in three AI search engines to a platform defending the second spot in Europe. The approach is the same for every business; what fills it in follows from the measurement.

Why SEO and GEO belong in one engagement

The two channels share the same foundation. The technical base that serves Googlebot serves GPTBot as well. The page that answers a customer question sharply ranks in Google and gets cited by Perplexity. Split SEO and GEO across two parties and you pay twice for the same foundation while their strategies get in each other's way.

There is another reason to combine them: Google AI Overviews leans on your regular Google rankings. Without classic SEO work you will not get in, however good your content is. At Influentials the average Google position went from 35 to 7, and that very climb carried the growth towards the second spot in Europe in AI visibility.

What an AI SEO engagement includes

Every engagement runs through the same components, in a fixed monthly rhythm.

  • Measurement of your Google positions and your mentions per AI model, next to your competitors
  • Technical work: speed, indexation, structured data, llms.txt and access for AI crawlers
  • Content programme: answer-first pages around the questions your market asks Google and AI
  • Authority: brand mentions and entity consistency on the sources models trust
  • Monthly report with both yardsticks: positions and traffic next to mentions, citations and sentiment

Delivery sits with one team that also builds websites, so technical changes never wait on an external developer.

Measurable: visibility score, citations and sentiment

AI SEO steers on three yardsticks. The visibility score: in what share of relevant AI answers your brand appears. The citation share: how often your domain hangs beneath those answers as a source. And sentiment: how AI models write about your brand when they name you, expressed as a score.

The third one surprises most: sentiment turns out to be as steerable as visibility. At Influentials, brand sentiment in AI answers rose nine points to 75 out of 100, in a market where AI models name 172 different brands on the key question. Getting named is step one; how you get named decides whether it wins customers.

Results from running engagements

Influentials appears in half of the AI answers on the key question in their market and is the fourth most cited domain in the category, above Instagram and Shopify. Google impressions grew more than fivefold in eight months.

ANSWRD tells the B2B story: five times more visible in AI answers than the nearest competitor, above international players with many times their budget, while traffic from Google grew sevenfold. Two yardsticks, one engagement; that is what AI SEO means in practice.

What does AI SEO cost?

The investment depends on where you start and where you want to go: your current positions and mentions, the competitive pressure on your questions and the pace at which you want to cover the question space. Serving two yardsticks does not have to cost more than one, because most of the work feeds both channels at once.

You pay a fixed monthly fee with no lock-in; every month is a fresh decision to continue. After a first conversation we dig into your situation and send a proposal with a concrete number and the outlook for the first six months.

Frequently asked questions

Is AI SEO different from regular SEO?

It is regular SEO plus a second yardstick. All the classic work remains: engineering, content, authority. On top comes the GEO work that serves AI models, from llms.txt to entity consistency, and a measurement that tracks mentions and citations per AI model next to your Google positions.

Do I need AI SEO if I already rank well in Google?

Good rankings are a head start, not a guarantee. We regularly measure brands that top Google yet barely appear in AI answers, because their content was not written to be citable. Tell us about your situation and we will show you precisely whether that gap exists for you.

What happens to my existing content?

It is the starting point. Pages that already rank get rewritten to answer-first without risking the rankings, and the measurement reveals which questions still lack a page of their own. Throwing everything away and starting over is rarely needed and almost always a waste of earned authority.

Which tools do you measure with?

For AI visibility we work with Promptwatch among others, which tracks per model who gets named and cited and with what sentiment. For the Google side we use the familiar sources such as Search Console. Everything comes together in one monthly report.

How fast will I see results from AI SEO?

AI mentions often respond faster than Google positions: a strong answer page can get cited within weeks, where rankings take months to build. Expect first movement within three months and a solid foundation within six to twelve, depending on your starting point.

How soon can we start together?

We usually schedule an introductory call within a few days, and after sign-off the engagement is typically running within two to three weeks. Use the form below for your request; we reply within one working day.
