Website development
A website that gets found in Google and ChatGPT, and turns visitors into enquiries.
Having a website built that actually pays off means solving three things at once today: being found in Google and in AI search engines such as ChatGPT, turning visitors into enquiries, and staying fast on every device. Zalm Partners builds such websites from the Groot Handelsgebouw in Rotterdam, for companies across the Netherlands and Belgium, with more than 50 current and completed projects as a track record.
The first question in every intro call is not which design you like, but what a visitor should actually do on your site. Half of all founders need a moment to answer that, and that is exactly why we start there: a site without a clear goal becomes an expensive brochure. Once the goal stands, structure, design and engineering fall into place logically.
What a proper business website must be able to do
The bar for a business site has shifted in recent years. Being found no longer means only ranking in Google; a growing share of your customers starts at ChatGPT or Perplexity, and your site has to be built so those models can read and cite it. On top of that, the site has to persuade visitors and load quickly on any phone.
- Findable: in Google and in AI search engines, built in from the structure up
- Persuasive: every page answers one customer question and offers a next step
- Fast: load time as a hard requirement, measured on real devices
- Yours: content, data and domain in your name, not the agency's
ANSWRD shows this works: since their new site, Google traffic has grown sevenfold and they sit above far larger players in AI answers. Hogedruk.be even started from zero and had its first enquiries within two weeks of launch.
How the process runs, from intake to launch
The project opens with an intake about your goal, your customers and your market, followed by a structure proposal: which pages there will be and which search question each page answers. Then comes the design, then the build, and throughout the ride you follow along live in a staging environment.
Content runs parallel to the build: we write based on interviews with you, you approve. That prevents the classic leak where a finished design waits months for copy. An average business site is live in four to eight weeks this way, including redirects from your old site if you have one; our website redesign page explains how that protects rankings.
Webflow, Next.js or Shopify: the platform follows your goal
We do not believe in one system for everyone. For most business sites, Webflow is the smart choice: fast, visually manageable and free of plugin upkeep. If your site is becoming a platform with its own functionality, we build in Next.js; that is how BIKEBAZE grew from MVP into the largest bike registration platform in the Netherlands. Selling products? Then Shopify is the starting point.
The proposal spells out the choice and the reasoning behind it. And whatever the technology: you get a site that is yours, with full access to content, statistics and domain. An agency that locks you into its own system earns from your dependency instead of your growth.
What does it cost to have a website built?
That depends on the size of the site, the amount of custom work, who produces the content, which integrations are needed and how maintenance is arranged. Market prices range from template work to extensive bespoke builds, and any price quoted without a conversation is guesswork; that is why we wrote a dedicated, honest page about it: what a website costs.
From us, one conversation gets you a no-obligation proposal with a concrete figure, broken out per line item. That lets you compare us calmly with others and see exactly what is and is not included, down to the maintenance after launch.
Pick your route: the deep-dive pages in this series
Every situation has its own starting point. If everything hinges on the look and persuasive power of the design, continue at web design in Rotterdam. If you already have a site that draws visitors but delivers little, conversion rate optimization is the logical route. And if your site has been running for years, the website redesign page helps you choose between improving and replacing.
It does not stop at launch either: through website maintenance your site stays fast, secure and current. Not sure which route fits? Just send your question; we will think along with no obligation and refer you honestly, even when that is not to us.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to have a website built?
An average business site is live in four to eight weeks, from intake to launch. An extensive site with custom functionality or a web shop takes longer; a compact site with supplied content can go faster. The proposal includes a schedule with the decision moments the pace depends on.
Will I be able to edit my website myself?
Yes. We build on systems with visual management, so you edit copy, images and pages yourself without a developer. Delivery includes a short walkthrough, and for anything beyond that you can fall back on us, per request or through a maintenance agreement.
Do you handle the copy and photography too?
Yes. We write the copy based on interviews with you and your team, built around your customers' search questions. For imagery we work with photographers and videographers; for Landtmeters Naval Stores we produced the complete video and photography alongside the site itself.
Will a new site make me findable in ChatGPT?
We build AI findability in from the structure up: pages that answer questions literally, structured data and engineering AI crawlers can read. Nobody can honestly guarantee positions, but our projects show what is achievable: clients of ours get cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, some at number one in their market.
What if my site breaks or ages after delivery?
That is what maintenance is for: updates, backups, monitoring and ongoing improvements at a fixed monthly fee. You can also come to us without a maintenance agreement; clients with one simply get priority. It is all in the proposal up front, so you know where you stand.
How quickly can we get going?
The first conversation usually happens within days and the build typically starts two to three weeks after you approve the proposal. Describe your situation in the form below; we will reply within one working day.
